Australasian Tunnelling Conference
November 5 – 8, 2023
The New Zealand Tunnelling Society and Australian Tunnelling Society Conference Committee were delighted to organise and host the 18th Australian Tunnelling Conference in Auckland.
The conference has played a major role in the development of the tunnelling industry within the region for the past 50+ years. The event brought together ~800 delegates from a cross section of the tunnelling community, from decision makers, clients, constructors, designers, suppliers and key industry stakeholders.
The overarching focus for the 2023 Australasian Tunnelling Conference was Trends and Transitions in Tunnelling, which were expressed through four tikanga: Resilience: Manawaroa; Relationships: Hononga; Guardianship: Tiaki; and Future: Anamata.
This event was a celebration of the vibrant tunnelling industry with presentations from Australasia, Asia, Europe and the United States and included Keynote Speeches from Arnold Dix (President of the International Tunnelling & Underground Space Association), Susan Krumdieck (Chair in Energy Transition Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Scotland) and Mike Mooney (Grewcock Chair Professor of Underground Construction & Tunnelling at Colorado School of Mines in the USA).
