In April, we held our third, annual, NZTS Golf Day and despite a couple hiccups with the weather, it was another stellar day. The event provides a great opportunity to get to know people within the tunnelling community, from clients, contractors, designers, suppliers, and students.
Join us for the first NZTS technical talk to kickstart this year’s calendar of events and technical talks. Our first presentation is from Katerina Howard (T+T), Elton Sturmfels (Sansom), and Wataru Okada (WSP), with a joint discussion on tunnel waterproofing.
On November 12, 2024, the New Zealand Tunnelling Society held our annual Short Course and AGM at the Aotea Centre. The theme of the course was Realising Value for Money in Underground Construction and Tunnelling Projects - a topic which is very relevant to the current New Zealand infrastructure context and landscape.

British Tunnelling Society’s 50-year celebratory book launch, presented by Mike McConnell from the British Tunnelling Society.
Bhargava Jinluka (GAJV) presented an overview of the differences between slurry and earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines and then dove into the decisions behind, and work involved to omit a proposed temporary works shaft and undertake the longest micro-tunnelling drive on the project.
The 2nd NZTS Annual Golf Day was held at Chamberlain Park Golf course on 12 March. 72 intrepid golfers braved Auckland finest weather conditions to complete 18 holes of fun-filled golf.
The New Zealand Tunnelling Society and Australian Tunnelling Society Conference Committee were delighted to organise and host the 18th Australian Tunnelling Conference in Auckland.
The inaugural New Zealand Tunnelling Society Golf Day was held in February at Chamberlain park golf course and was a huge success. We had 70 players and 14 sponsors participating, and saw some great golf and a lot of fun had by all.

Once again, we have assembled a broad agenda including in-depth interactive presentations on matters that affect our industry now and into the future that includes global suppliers, major project case histories and lessons learned from leading subject matter experts.

The Australasian Tunnelling Conference 2025, taking place from Nov 10-14, 2025, in Perth, Western Australia. This prestigious event will bring together leading professionals, engineers, and innovators in tunnelling and underground infrastructure from across the Australasian region and beyond.
The World Tunnel Congress (WTC) is an annual, international conference organized by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES) that brings together experts to discuss and share knowledge about tunnelling and underground space technology.

The New Zealand Tunnelling Society were delighted to present Grant Miocevich with the Award for Service to New Zealand Tunnelling at the 2023 Australasian Tunnelling Conference Gala.
